Get started with SnapEE
SnapEE is a browser extension for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Opera. It does not work in Firefox or Safari, or on phones and tablets. These steps take about five minutes.
- Request a trial key. Request your free trial key. Most keys arrive within minutes.
- Install the extension. Open snapee.ca/install in the browser you will use. It opens SnapEE in the Chrome Web Store. Choose the button for your browser (such as Add to Chrome, Add to Edge, Add to Brave, Add to Vivaldi or Add to Opera), then click the SnapEE icon in the browser's toolbar. If you do not see it, click the puzzle icon and pin SnapEE.
- Read the first-use notice. SnapEE explains what it reads and what it sends. Until you click Agree, it reads nothing, saves nothing and contacts no one.
- Enter your key. Choose Enter licence key and paste the key from your email. Your browser asks to let SnapEE contact the licence server (key.snapee.ca). Choose Allow.
- Capture a file. Open your client's file in the IRCC portal, go to its checklist page, and follow Capture a client's file. If the file has already been submitted, see Capture a file that has already been submitted.
If Chrome says an extension is "not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing", see If Chrome says SnapEE is not trusted.
When you enter your key, SnapEE sends four things to the licence server: your licence key, a random install ID, a short browser label such as "Chrome on Mac", and your platform name. Nothing about your clients is sent.
