If Chrome says SnapEE is not trusted

When you add SnapEE, Chrome may show "This extension is not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing".

What it means

Chrome shows this only if you have turned on Enhanced protection in its Safe Browsing settings. Google calls an extension trusted when its developer has followed the Chrome Web Store policies, and says it generally takes a few months for a new developer to become trusted. Google has not yet marked our publisher as trusted, which is normal for a new publisher. The message is about that. It does not mean a problem was found in SnapEE, and we cannot speed it up.

What you can do

  • Install from the official page. Open snapee.ca/install. It opens SnapEE's page in the Chrome Web Store.
  • Continue the install. Chrome lets you choose to continue after the warning.
  • Or switch Safe Browsing to Standard for the install. Open Chrome's settings, then Privacy and security, then Security. You can switch it back afterwards. If your firm manages your browser, ask your IT contact first.

What SnapEE can see

SnapEE's store page lists its privacy information, and How SnapEE protects client information explains in plain words what SnapEE reads, saves and sends. In short, it reads only the IRCC application pages you open, it saves what it reads encrypted on your computer, and it never changes anything in the portal.

Google says the message usually clears within a few months, as long as we keep following the store's policies.
