How SnapEE protects client information
The short version
What SnapEE reads from the IRCC portal is encrypted and saved only in your browser, on your computer. It is never sent to SnapEE. Reports are built on your computer when you open them.
How it is protected
Everything captured is encrypted before it is saved, and every save uses a new random value. If a saved item is changed, moved or cut short, SnapEE detects it and reports the item as lost, and never shows it. If the encryption key cannot be reached, SnapEE saves nothing in plain text.
What is sent to our licence server
Only four things, and only to check your licence. They are your licence key, a random install ID, a short browser label and your platform name. SnapEE sends nothing before you click Agree, and it uses no analytics and no cookies. When you choose Buy, your browser opens our server with your licence's ID in the address, which is not your key.
What SnapEE can see and do
It works only on IRCC application pages. It reads what the page shows and never changes, fills in or submits anything. It moves your tab only when you start an Auto-walk or choose Open the checklist page, and then only to pages of the same portal.
What you control
In Settings you can clear captured data and release this computer. You can end a session at any time, and comments you type into a report are cleared when you end it. Removing the extension removes what SnapEE stored in your browser, but does not free the browser's place on your licence.
What encryption does not do
Encryption protects saved data from casual reading, copied profile folders and backups read on their own. It does not protect against malware on your computer or against someone who can sign in as you. Reports you save as PDFs are your own files, so protect and share them as you do other client documents.
Technical detail
Captured data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using the browser's built-in cryptography, with a fresh random value for each save. The key is created so that page code cannot export it, and it stays in the extension's own storage in your browser profile. Each stored item is tied to its own name, so it will not open under another one. Encryption runs inside the extension, never in the portal page.
